Overnight train.
We kill time during the day at the Whitefish Library, waiting for the evening train to Seattle. Amtrak’s Empire Builder crisscrosses much of the territory we covered on our journey to Whitefish. Overnight, we sleep in our private roomette. After a hot breakfast, the train averts Stevens Pass via the Cascades Tunnel. A long descent to Seattle lasts the rest of the morning.
