Abu Simbel to Wadi Halfa, 70 km
Today we said a long goodbye to Egypt, and a very long hello to Sudan.
First, an early wake up to catch a 7 am ferry across Lake Nasser. Then, a 35 ride to the border crossing.
Then, an hour processing paperwork and standing around to leave Egypt.
Finally, two hours completing forms, and waiting for approval to enter Sudan.
That said, the actual entry to Sudan was welcoming and genuine. There is less traffic on the roads, a fraction of the amount of garbage strewn about, and there are far fewer weapons on display. A delicious Sudanese meal topped of a busy day.
So far, Sudan feels good.
