Desert camp to Abu Simbel, 152 km
Today’s ride was a long one. Approaching the Sudanese border, we are now beginning to feel some hotter weather. Along with the wind, these conditions are drying out our skin intensely. The legs feel it. The face feels it.
The ride itself was all highway and sand. Not much scenery, save for some curious rock mounds rising out of the desert, as if some giant sand worms had turned the soil. The pack of wild dogs on the move was a surreal, unexpected encounter.
We are now camped in the dusty gardens of a Nubian lodge, overlooking Lake Nasser. All is calm, quiet and low key. Time to rest and recuperate.
