Day 25, 97 words

Sennar to Canal Camp, 88 km

For five Sudanese Pounds (30 cents) the local fellows tip the donkey barrel and serve up about four gallons of water.

Once poured into a laundry bucket, we have the makings of a bucket shower. A means to rid the body of the grime, dust, sweat accumulated this day.

This first day cycling off asphalt and on dirt roads is a whole new world of dirty.

It’s fun, though. Away from the hectic highway, we get to slow down and come closer to the people who live here in Eastern Sudan, near and alongside the Blue Nile.
