Day 10, 112 words

Aswan to desert camp, 145 km

A first true taste of desert camping. Free from police tape. Miles from anything. Save the hydro lines. And a small kiosk selling pop and chips.

Tents were pitched in high winds, wherever it made sense. At sunset, thankfully, the wind abated and we enjoyed a brief time around a warm fire. Making conversation, and marvelling at the clear, star-filled sky overhead.

We finally have a sense of elbow room. However brief, camping feels like camping.

And it feels good.

Getting used to the personalities of our fellow riders. Some are a joy. Some, we will see.

Thankfully, out here in the desert it appears there is enough space for us all.
